Welcome to our blog! We want to keep you posted on what we are doing at Sewickley's Penguin Bookshop. We are moving quickly and are on target for our Fall 2008 opening. Stay tuned and feel free to contact us!
The Penguin Bookshop has taken another large step forward! We are thrilled to announce that we have hired our new Manager, Leah Lindemann. Leah, who currently lives in the area, has accepted the position and will be starting the end of January. Welcome Leah! We are very excited.
We got our building permit on January 8th, 2008! Yeah!
If you look at our building now, the windows are boarded up and the holiday window decorations have been removed. We donated some of the shelving to a local church and Construction Junction has been dismantling the rest of the interior woodwork, hot water heater, windows and doors to take for recycling and reuse.
Store construction will be LEED Certified to meet today's green building standards.
The new Penguin Bookshop will provide comfortable seating, fireplaces, coffee and a children's area, programming space and outdoor sunroom on the second floor.
We will offer books, book-related gifts, greeting cards, newspapers and magazines, extensive programming and online shopping.
It is sooo great to see a real independent bookstore back in the village. Keep up the good work!
