If you look through the scaffolding, you can see that the Penguin Bookshop is truly taking shape. The front sign is in place and so is the second floor front wall. People have been stopping us on the street to rave about the new sign! We expect that the windows and doors will be placed sometime in the next few weeks and that should really give people something to talk about. In the meantime, we have posted the renderings outside on the front plywood to try to give you an idea of how awesome your new bookstore is going to look.
Below is your first look at the first floor interior in case you are wondering what is going on behind the plywood. We are in a stage where it is difficult to see real progress but we assure you that a lot is happening (hey, at least there is a floor now). Basically, over the next few weeks we will be working on the guts of the building – HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. However, keep checking here for the new window and door pictures that should be posted by the end of May (fingers crossed).
Thank you to those who have sent us their favorite books. What an interesting and diverse readership we have! Keep ‘em coming as emails to booklovers@penguinbookshop.com or as comments below.
Question: What do a children’s bookstore in Wexford called Munchkins and the Penguin Bookshop have in common?
